In European publishing houses the name Hammer is already well-known. The Danish author-duo, the brother and sister Hammer, got a flying start when the rights to their not yet published crime novel The Beast Within was secured by German Droemer Knaur in an auction closed at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Furthermore, Norwegian Font Forlag preempted the title only a few days after receiving the material. The success story continues with newly-made two-book deals in The USA, France, Italy and the Netherlands.
“There’s a price for everything.” Thus begins the second instalment of Hammer & Hammer’s explosive new crime series featuring Copenhagen police investigator Konrad Simonsen, a sentence that simultaneously strikes the theme of this nerve-wrenching follow-up to The Beast Within [Svinehunde]. In The Beast Within five paedophile men are found murdered and Konrad Simonsen and his colleagues have to deal with not only a murderer that plays trick on them but also the opposition and hostility of the general population. It’s a novel that deals with the questions of ethics, justice, and taking the law into one’s own hands.
The Beast Within is scheduled to be published in Denmark in April 2010 and the sequel A price for everything in September 2010.
