For her novel Privatpersoner [Private Lives] Juliane Preisler has been nominated for the prestigious prize.

Juliane Preisler (born 1959) made her debut in 1983 with the collection of poems Uden [Without]. She has since written stories and radio plays, novels and drama. Most recently she published the novel Legetøjsliv [Toy Life] (2007). Juliane Preisler is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades, including the Danish Arts Council’s three-year scholarship in 1985, the Edith and Helge Rode Memorial Grant 1986, and the Danish Literature Prize for Women in 1989.

About Privatpersoner the Press wrote:

“Private Lives is a book about loneliness and about how tragically impotent we are at reaching into one another, at bringing things into the open, or merely reaching out. Unquestionably Juliane Preisler’s best book yet.”
- Berlingske Tidende

The prize winner will be announced at the book fair BogForum, which is taking place in Forum in Copenhagen in the weekend of November 13.-15.

In 2008 Kirsten Hamman was awarded the prize consisting of 300.000 DKK for her recent novel En dråbe I havet [A drop in the ocean]
