The Beast Within that came out of the blue
29 October 2009
The interest for the new Danish crime sensation Hammer & Hammer’s The Beast Within has been overwhelming. The book has yet to be published but the German and Norwegian rights have already been sold.

It is rare that a crime novel from recently discovered authors finds itself bathing in the spotlight. And when that novel has not even been published yet, it is truly spectacular.
In Denmark and abroad the interest for The Beast Within has been massive and the debutants, the brother and sister Søren and Lotte Hammer, have already made their faces known in the Danish TV news and daily papers.

Foreign rights already sold
The Beast Within by Hammer & Hammer will be published in Danish in April 2010, but the rights have already been sold abroad. German Droemer Knaur secured the rights in an auction closed at the Frankfurt Book Fair and Norwegian Font Forlag preempted the title only a few days after receiving the material.

The novel opens with the finding of 5 male bodies, naked and horribly mutilated, in a school gymnasium. Early on it is revealed that the victims are paedophiles and the murderers are victims of paedophilia. The Beast Within is a hard-hitting crime novel about taking the law into one's own hands, a story about manipulation and demagogy.

The first in a series
The Beast Within is the first novel in a planned series about Police Chief Superintendent Konrad Simonsen and his colleagues. Second novel in the series will be published August/September 2010 and opens with the spectacular finding of a 20-years old female corpse, frozen into the inland ice. The authors have just handed in the third book in the series.

The brother and sister Hammer & Hammer distinguish themselves with their obvious narrative skills, credible background descriptions, vivid dialogue, and - not in the least - spectacular plots.

What started out as fun, non-committing writing project between brother and sister has snowballed into a major crime fiction sensation. With the convincing debut novel The Beast Within, we welcome a new team in Danish crime fiction.

Secure the rights now and get ready to be blown away!
